Vegan Boston. The Other Side. St. Louis Vivisection Conference. Project Nim Screening. Naomi Wolf Vagina. Steven Colbert.

The Other Side in Boston, Mass. (USA).  Nature Boy Platters, Hot Chili, and Guacamole.
Called "The Other Side" because it is on the other side of Mass Ave (from the rest of the strip).

The Other Side.  Boston. USA.
"The Other Side" in Boston.  Since Closed, which is a shame because apparently it was a fixture in the Back Bay for 20 years! Not a vegan place, but they had some vegan goods, and brews for the man.  This is part of the "Nature Boy" RAW platter.  Yep, a beer-bar type of place had raw food eats on the menu.  Insane & priced really well.  A huge platter of sliced veggies with 3 types of raw nut cheezes.  Way more filling that the typical "raw food entree" geared for breatharians in training.

Hubby spent some College Years in the Boston area so always romanticized it a bit.  So we made a detour on our last trip to hang out there for a night.  It was bitter cold and the wind was brutal.  So walking around wasn't as enjoyable as it could have been.  We were thrilled to find this place.  Super comfy & chill vibe.  And with hot vegan chili!

Guac to match.  Fresh food at a bar, what a concept!

Was thrilled that this plate was massive.  Made me never want to waste time dehydrating veggie chips when it was so much easier & better for ya to just eat them fresh.

There were 3 types of "nut cheeses" and pates.  Cashews, Sunflowers, spices.  Kind of the "norm" for Raw food dips/pates.  But what a great idea!  So easy for them to whip up in food processor & then so little prep to run those veggies through a processor/slicer.  Wish more "regular places" would offer fresh foods like this!

This is the upstairs area, where we spent the afternoon!

Really nice bar area downstairs. Nice in a casual kind of way.

Always a bummer when a place that has been in one area closes after 20 years.  But rumor has it that there may be a possibility of it reopening in another location.............And you can go to their FB page, where they may keep you informed of any news.  A place that has both raw food and beer??  That is a true "couple pleaser".  :)

  1. So great to see some raw stuff on the menu at a bar! That is definitely not common. Too bad it closed! Think we can convince them to reopen?
I love Boston but it's been a couple years since I've been there.. I'm pretty sure I always miss the good vegan stuff.
Have you read Vagina? What do you think about it? I've heard mixed reviews but mostly that she is very essentialist.

  2. I used to work right off of Mass Ave. in Arlington (I lived in Allston at the time). I miss Boston a lot, but it was so expensive! I would have loved to try that place but I wasn't even close to vegan then, haha.

    XOXO!

  3. Such a shame to loose this gem. It sounds like an eatery that I would have loved, considering all of the variety on the menu. Everything you featured looks delicious.
