Crazy Sexy Diet Adventure Cleanse of Kris Carr, Day 11. Alcohol Beat Arugula, or at least Tied.

Butternut Squash I was saving for an "Indian Slow Cooker" recipe but realized I have to reorder fenugreek seeds as I had used them all for sprouting!

And....Alcohol won the evening of 10th. I didn't choose Alcohol over Arugula, but chose Alcohol to accompany it. Translates into a small glass of wine with an incredible Arugula Salad.  My husband (that damn peer pressure :) encouraged me to drink my woes away (which consisted of about 8 ounces of wine) instead of engage in 90 minutes of yoga.  It's funny because I could go a long time without alcohol, but if you take if off of the table, then I "miss" it.  But mostly I want to take from this cleanse is a focus on wheatgrass and juicing in the morning, exercise and meditation 5 days a week, getting outside a few minutes a day (even in the frigid cold), and scrubbing my skin silly (dry brushing).  Emphasis on a raw diet, and cooked foods that are simple (brown rice, beans, veggies).

Crazy Sexy Diet: Eat Your Veggies, Ignite Your Spark, and Live Like You Mean It!

book.  It's in a format that you can just pick it up and start reading it on any page.  Lots of beautiful photos and wonderful format.

Apparently BPA free cans.  I am sure hubby had these saved for some Nachos, I just realized, but I beat him to it.

Um....yeah, not under 105 degrees.

I am pretending I am macrobiotic.  Don't know if this is, but reminds of "Macro-Meals".

My husband's Punjubi Mash.  He is actually asking me if we have raw onions already cut up.   He is craving raw onions on his food!  He took the Simple Yellow Lentil Dal and the Mock Kheema, added collards and brown basmati.  He can't stand to dirty 2 dishes when it all fits into one.

Huge plate of food for this girl.
Nothing terribly exciting to report today.  I actually watered my sprouts, so maybe there is actually some hidden intention of using them??  Also fantasizing about some raw vegan cacao or carob V-day treats.  We don't do a whole bunch of organized holidays, but why would I pass up a chance to splurge on olives, carob, some lucious raw cheezecake, and some awesome new raw dish?  Maybe some eco-lingerie?? Do you guys have any favorite websites for non-retail prices on these goodies??  I often order the "At-Cost" specials from Raw Food World.  It looks like "Shop Raw Foods" might have some pretty consistent pricing for Olives and other foo-foo Raw Foods.  For Hemp Seeds I usually hit Amazon (and get Nutiva brand) and buy 3 pounds at once.  Amazon actually has good deals on Nutiva, Navita's Naturals, and even 7th Generation Toilet Paper.  The "Subscribe and Save" program gets you an additional 15% off and free shipping.

Rock on With Hanuman and Raw Food

Zucchini Pasta.
A raw food staple.  Every household needs a Spirooli!

I was so happy to finally make it to a Raw Gathering.  It seems I never actually get something made or get swallowed up by my house during the get togethers.  Got my fix of some amazing feminine energy meeting some beautiful new women!  Yogis and Triathletes!  People flirt with the Raw Food lifestyle for lots of reasons.  While I believe in the Raw Food lifestyle 100%, I have a tendency to want to have fun with it.  I  still am unable to demonize cooked beans and I still don't think that you must go in for butt cleanings bi-weekly.  Or at least I want a little balance, a semi-clean butt and I don't want to feel like the Antichrist (what does that mean to someone like me anyway?) if I eat cooked food.

Aren't the colors amazing?

Modern Art.

Of course it was the start of a New Year so we each took a few moments to say something we had done recently to spiritually or physically better ourselves.  I was not in a "spiritually bettering" kind of place, so I went with running as that's new to me.  A lot of the people had just been to a sweat lodge the day before.  I was probably eating vegan junk food and watching bad tv the day before, but they had enough good energy for all of us!  In all seriousness, I am very grateful that I got to meet some wonderful new people and reconnect with others. It's funny because everyone brought healthy food!. Sometimes everyone brings desserts!  But maybe it was a New Year's thing to start out super green.
Perhaps raw cheezecakes will rule by February?

Veggie Pasta.

Kale Chips.  (Dehydrated)
My Ultimate Favorite Junk Food.
Except it's not junk!
If only the Government would subsidze Kale instead of Casein.

What's Hanuman got to do with it?  I got this M.C. Yogi Cd after hearing about how Ganesh got his "Elephant Head" and "Fat Belly" while perusing books at the East West bookstore in New York. They were playing it in the store and I immediately bought a copy.  The album has guest appearances from Krishna Das, Sharon Gannon, and Bhagavan Das.  Great for running or driving around town.  The best part is the songs tell stories (albeit very condensed) about Shiva, Hanuman, Ganesh, Krishna, and a wonderful song about the life of Gandhi.  This is Hanuman's time to rock.

Jewels for your Vegan Vixen

I am always looking for ways to subtly wear my "Vegan Gospel".  I used to be hesitant to use those words, but since seeing Will Tuttle speak and use them himself, well I feel a lot more confident about it now. But I was kind of interested in "wearing" that message the way people wear a cross. Some people wear a cross, like Madonna, almost as a "F*** You",  I can be hot and edgy and it's hip because I am Christian.  And then there are other people, like quiet Catholics,  who just seem like they were born with a cross around their necks.  Very unobtrusive.   And then there are those who not only wear their cross but when you are introduced to them, they need to make an announcement of their Christianity.  "Hi, I am Jill, and I am Christian."  Like an AA meeting or something.  If vegans did that we would get a lot of s***!  "Hi, I am Jackie, and the most important day of my life was when I accepted Veganism as my Savior." Or say, "Hey, I'm Bob, and well I am Vegan so I am not f***ing up the planet like you are with your diet of lard burgers and poisoned chickens."

Well, I just want to say that I also may adorn myself with a cross now, but with a slant. So I perused the vegan sites for hip gear.....and stumbled upon Herbivore's new Herbivore cross necklaces. They carry copper and silver (although they may currently be out of silver) and they rock. And at $30.00 they are a cute, inexpensive addition to our garb.

Aren't they cute??

Another adorable necklace is offered by PETA for 20 bucks. he Christy Robinson necklace features 3 animals and Peace for All.

Of course there is the "Carrie Bradshaw" "Vegan" necklace from PETA as well.

On sale for $15.00 now.

But the "Mother Lode" of Vegan/Yoga necklaces has got to be this.  Sonja Picard's "Ahimsa" necklace with ALL of the profits going to PETA so you can forget your guilt girl!  Think of it as a "donation" because that's exactly what it is. This is more of an anniversary gift or a bit more special. Well at least for girls like me who don't place any emphasis on jewelry. It is $150.00 but the great part about it is that 100 percent of the profits go to PETA.  I am waiting for a piece to come out with the "Lokah Samastah Sukinoh Bhavantu" Sanskrit on it.

Sonja Picard "Ahimsa" necklace (Sanskrit).

The other necklace (not really Vegan themed!) that I was eyeing for awhile, With no message at all, is this one from Raw Food World.  Apparently it keeps you grounded or helps with EMF's....I really don't know.  But this month, December, they are having a sale and they feel kind of cool.
