JuiceTrip 2012. Did You Dose Today? Getting High on Carrots & Kale. InstagramMoments.

So recently I thought I would try to go an entire 24 hours without eating.  With just drinking juice.  But not a small amount of juice.  But at least 2000 calories of Juice a day.  This is "normal" for "JuiceFeasters" who often do "JuiceFeasts" and subsist on hours of mediation, supercolonics, and morning yoga.  But I exist on Yerba Mate, a lack of sleep (puppies insist on getting up early!), and cynicism.  So I had no expectations of throbbing 3rd eyes or the street lights turning on and off from my insanely powerful energy (which apparently has happened with SuperJuiceFeasters).  I also had just raided my parent's garden and they have Kale.  So basically I bought carrots, apples, beets, and a few other veggies and just said "Go".  And I can't call drinking juice a "Feast".  So I call it a "Trip" and hope somehow I will Get High on Kale.

I have a SuperPower Juicer and made a bunch of juice at once for the day.  These are 16 ounce Mason Jars.  I just drank juice all day long.  And FYI, Juice Feasting means you are consuming massive amounts of Juice.  You are not cutting calories or "depriving" yourself.  Just saturating your bod with nutrients.  So this is not fasting or some crazy assed "diet" idea.  Just a way to give the body a break from excessive digestion.  If my body is just soaking up this goodness, it doesn't have to work so damn hard to try to extract the good stuff.  And the "theory" is that just maybe, my body can work on repairing it's pipes.  Fix up it's infrastructure a little bit.  Maintenance Call.  A "Juice Stimulus Package".  And speaking of Stimulus, Juice may make you feel sexier.  I would never use canned or heated juices for this.  Just freshly pressed or extracted juice from real food.  Nothing heated, pasteurized, with added gunk.

Kind of a typical blend.  Zucchinis are great this time of year because everyone has "too" many of them & they work well in juice.

After some crazy garlic, hot pepper, green blends, a "PlainCarrot" juice seems delicious.

No recipes used here..........Just whatever produce I had that needed to be used.  All organic.  I even threw in a few potatoes, garlic, ginger, and hot peppers.

It took time in the morning, but then I didn't have to cook or "uncook" anything else all day.  For a few days I felt fine.  Really I just "missed" food.  Have an emotional attachment to it and just wanted to eat. I went 5 days and then knew I was heading to BhaktiFest & put the kabosh on the fast.  At first I had grand dreams of doing the juice during Bhaktifest, but my juicer is not portable, and there was barely time to eat or sleep.........I didn't find the Sprout & Wheatgrass stand there until the last day :(

I didn't ditch the Mate though.  Had to have my Mate before I made juice each day.

It's so funny that people eating BigMacs each day can do a JuiceFeast and they rave about how great they feel.  They don't miss food.  They are flying.  I had none of that.  I felt fine, but I had no energy surge.  Felt a bit lighter the first few days, and certainly I was consuming massive amounts of nutrients. But I didn't feel like I was breathing SuperCharged Prana or anything.  Either my body nofunca for fasts, OR I just eat really clean (in general) all the time so it's not like I totally blossom while doing the juice thing. But no doubt I will do it again, JUST to keep "chasing" that ChakraBuzz that the REST of the world talks about when they do a juice feast.

Yes....drink juice.  Drink Mate. Drink Juice. Drink Mate.  In reality,  I only had Mate in the Morning during this "JuiceTrip".

Beet Juice.....Reading the new "Vegan Health & Fiteness" magazine.

Get Juiced with The Gerson Girls Carrot Chemo Video. Killing Cancer with Carrots, Kale, and Coffee. Got Cancer? Free Healing Cancer Summit.

Jess and her mum, Aussie Goddesses who are kicking Cancer's Butt with the "Gerson Therapy".   Remember, Jess didn't start out doing this therapy because she was "against chemo", but after her agressive cancer returned even after chemo, she looked for other options.  She was told that she would have to cut her arm off.  16 months into the therapy, she still has two arms and is simply the most adorable Carrot Chemo Girl!  Check out Jess interviewing her mother on why her mum decided to do Gerson right off the bat after discovering she had breast cancer.  To read another Blogpost on Jess Read: On Carrots, Coffee & Cancer. Jess, the Groovy Gorgeous Gerson Girl.

Kevin Gianni, of Renegade Health, is hosting this free "Healing Cancer World Summit".  All you need to do is sign up.  And as you learn in this video, he has very personal reasons to want to find better ways to fight cancer.  Or at least offer people some other choices.  Of course the Gerson Therapy will be one of the therapies discussed.

Childhood Leukemia and Hot Dogs??  Just ONE hot dog a week shows a 950% increase in likelihood of childhood leukemia.  Diet, including obesity and alcohol, is the cause of about 50% of Cancer.  I just assume I will get it from Mesothelioma (from the abandoned homes in East St. Louis) and 20 years on the Pill (Cancer maybe, but Child-free :)  But Hot dogs, really?  Thinking with those statistics I would trade in the Hot Dog for an organic lentil dog (unless I really didn't like my kids). And of course, footage from the rescue group I work with sometimes.  Gateway Pet Guardians feeds the stray dogs and cats in East St. Louis (over the river from St. Louis) every single day of the year.  Pj has made it the same priority of her morning coffee and started doing this nearly 15 years ago.  Her endless devotion to these animals inspired several people to form the non-profit.  And now Pj has a crew (and her own documentary!) to help feed, fund raise, & rescue.  "Nevada" has since been rescued.  His collar got so embedded that he could not eat or drink and was constantly drooling.  Dr. Ed & Hillside Animal Hospital were able to take him in that day to surgically remove his collar.  He has to leave the vet and we are in dire need of a foster.  Apparently he is the most sweet & loving dog, even after that whole ordeal!

The above video is part of footage from a day that we had a group of people.  We had just finished going through abandoned building and wooded areas looking for Dodie's puppy.  Nigel & Nigella are still on the street but probably "rescueable" if we have fosters.  Their "person" has moved and they are left behind.  Pj also takes residents dog food to feed their pets and helps out trying to encourage spaying and neutering of pets.  Often people don't want to spay and neuter but then get overwhelmed with the puppies and call Pj to take the puppies........

And the cats.  We see these cats every single day!!!! This is a "Blooper" because we didn't plan on getting a cat that day and we didn't end up with one either.  But Ms. J thought she wanted the little Mr. Tux kitty and Pj actually got him!! But......Turns out Ms. J can't take Mr. Tux anyhow, but if we have a foster we can rescue him with a cat trap next time!!

The Groovy Gerson Girls. Donate to their Carrots over Chemo Fund!

Jess's Parents.

Jess  is the beautiful young gal who writes the "Wellness Warrior".  A blog that she started when chemo didn't "cure" a nasty Epithelioid  Sarcoma she had & she started searching for alternatives.  Since she wouldn't accept her arm getting cut off, she became a health guru girl extraordinaire, quickly transitioning from champagne to carrots.   Currently she is using the "Gerson Therapy", a very intense Cancer therapy that uses lots of carrot & green juices (about 13 juices a day, at one hour intervals and freshly pressed!), cleansing, and supplements in a very exact manner.  Jess is about 14 months into the Gerson Therapy and still has her arm! This is all inspiring news and her blog is one that I read almost religiously & usually it is bearing good news, positive affirmations, and healing talk.

A day's worth of produce on Gerson.

However, I gasped & cried when I read her recent post.  Her mother has just been diagnosed with breast cancer and now both Jess & her mother will be doing this intensive therapy, at home.  Her mother was being Jess's caregiver but is now going to need help from both Jess & Jess's father.  Read Jess's Post about How 2 years of Gerson therapy suddenly became 3.

Now she is asking for some financial help because health insurance only covers chemo.  Her mom is going to be doing the whole therapy now as well, which is going to be a whole lot of money of fresh fruits & veggies plus strain on her Dad as well, since he is going to have 2 beautiful lovelies to juice for now.  Please Click on the "Wellness Warrior" link and check out the right hand side "Donation"  (now it is only in this post but check the tabs on top too!) link if you are able to give any amount of money to help these beautiful people juice their way back to optimal health.

Jess blogged through her time spent at the actual Gerson Clinic as well.  Her story will captivate you.  She wasn't a "hippie chic" that turned her nose up at medicine, and she still isn't.  But her blog tells the story of her journey and how modern medicine doesn't always have all of the answers.  Please give what you can to these beautiful peeps.

Do you guys read "Healing Blogs" about people beating tough stuff with integrative/holistic medicine, nutritional therapies??  If so, whose blogs do you read?  Do you know anyone that has beat Cancer, Diabetes, Heart Disease this way?  What did they use?  I am wondering if there are other Gerson/Hippocrates bloggers out there.  I know the Gerson takes a crazy amount of determination and it is a major life change to do the entire therapy (which you must do to get desired results).  Apparently you usually need to do the therapy for 2 years & then follow their eating/juicing guidelines for life.  I think "life" is the key word here.  If they payoff is "life", then intensive juice therapy, supplements, and hours of enemas may suddenly seem more "doable".
